More than 500,000 clips from Getty Images now available through Footage.net
Footage.net, a stock footage search engine, has announced that it has now partnered with Getty Images, the world’s leading creator and distributor of visual and digital media content, to include its entire footage database of more than 500,000 clips in the Footage.net search platform. “The partnership with Getty Images adds greatly to the breadth, depth and value of our footage search engine, and we look forward to providing Getty Images with another channel to serve the global production community,” said Footage.net President Domenick Propati. “We are especially pleased that Footage.net users will now have access to Getty Images’ amazing collection of high-quality contemporary footage.”

Paramount Pictures launches online film clips site
The New York Times recently reported that Paramount Pictures has launched a footage licensing site, offering clips from its large archive of films to commercial users of stock footage. Paramount may eventually offer the clips to the consumer market but at this time have limited licensing to advertising agencies, corporations, broadcast companies and other commercial customers. The site allows visitors to search the archive on a frame-by-frame basis.

ITN Source contributing footage to Digital Images for Education

BBC Motion Gallery contributes to the O2’s British Music Experience
BBC Motion Gallery, the clip sales arm of BBC Worldwide, has licensed classic pop footage to the new British Music Experience exhibition at the O2 centre. The new exhibition will be a permanent addition to the O2 Centre and promises to bring the history of British pop culture to life with a unique display of art effects and iconic memorabilia. ITN Source contributes to Aernout Mik‘s Raw Footage installation at The Hayward
ITN Source, a division of ITN and a leading provider of stock footage from the UK, has announced that it has supplied approximately two hours of footage to artist Aernout Mik‘s Raw Footage installation, which opens at The Hayward, London on February 18th and runs until May 4th. The video piece features discarded news footage that depicts the disturbing normality of day to day fighting and living in a war zone. Shot by ITN cameramen during the war in former Yugoslavia, Mik’s installation shows people going about their lives when gunfire and shelling seizes. Raw Footage includes a collage of animals during wartime, kids imitating the gunfire and exhausted soldiers taking a nap on the street. “It was really interesting for me to work with ITN Source making Raw Footage, because I got access to hours and hours of raw material from the war in former Yugoslavia. And with raw I mean really raw; completely unedited, not pre-selected or whatsoever, all the original footage that was inside the camera. This raw material enabled me to go in a completely new direction with my works,” stated Aernout Mik.
